Abstract

The World Health Organization, in the Second World Assembly on Aging held in 2002, coined the term active aging, referring to the process through which opportunities in terms of security, participation and health are optimized by improving the quality of life of the elderly. When speaking of active aging in that assembly, reference was made to several areas of intervention, among which the areas of physical well-being, social wellbeing and mental well-being should be highlighted (Limón Mendizabal, 2018). Since Music Therapy, by definition, is an excellent tool for the three aforementioned areas (Pérez Eizaguirre & Fernández Company, 2015), it is a very wise matter to use this art therapy as a tool for this preventive area (Mercadal-Brontons & Martí, 2008).
In this article, it presents the conclusions of an intervention proposal, scientifically justified, for active aging through music therapy is presented, which, moreover, has been implemented in a real way. Based on the intervention, both the high level of satisfaction of the users and the benefits of music therapy in this field are evidenced.
