Influence of music therapy in the improvement of social skills in people with autism spectrum disorder.

Abstract

The present research aimed to propose the development of a therapeutic intervention based on music therapy to increase social skills in a subject (single case study) who presents signs and symptoms related to autism. Regarding the exhaustive bibliographic reviews, in addition to the researcher's work experience, specific objectives were set such as: measurement of social skills, design of the intervention, application and evaluation of it. The proposal was raised for its realization within the facilities of the Center for Developmental Disabilities belonging to the city of New York (United States). This research aims to promote the use of music therapy in an adult with a diagnosis of autism.
